Types of Carbon Steel Pipes

Carbon Steel has 0.05% to 2.1% carbon content by weight. Carbon Steel is a commonly used type of steel and it is an alloy of iron and carbon. Low carbon steel has approximately 0.25% carbon content whereas high carbon steel has 0.75 to 1.5% Carbon by weight.

Carbon Steel Pipes are of various types and have different advantages.

Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes: Seamless Pipes are used in heavy duty applications as it is resistant to stress. Carbon Steel Pipes have copper, manganese, silicon in it. More proportion of Carbon and Iron is present in seamless pipes.

Carbon Steel Welded Pipes: Carbon Steel Welded Pipes are generally high carbon steels with 2.1% carbon content by weight. High carbon increases the strength and toughness but ductility of the same is reduced. It can withstand high pressure.

Carbon Steel ERW Pipes: Carbon Steel ERW Pipes are resistant to corrosive media and have appropriate structure. The steel skelp is unrolled and heated then passed through grooved rollers, which make the ends curl up and form the pipe shape. The process of creating a weld involves passing the unwelded pipe between welding electrodes. As the metal resists the current, heat and molten pools are created where the edges come into touch with one another.

Carbon Steel LSAW Pipes: LSAW stands for Longitudinal Submerged Arc-Welding Pipe, also called SAWL pipe. Its manufacturing process is as follows: it molds the raw material by the molding machine, then does double-sided submerged arc welding. It has a fine finish, it is easy to install and is resistant to corrosion.

Carbon Steel Fabricated Pipes: Carbon Steel Fabricated pipes have high strength and toughness. It is widely used in applications where resistance to corrosive media is required. Carbon Steel fabricated pipes have high fabrications.

Applications: All these Pipes are used in many applications like food processing, Industrial heating and steaming process, transportation, construction, power generation, chemical processing, Boiler, Condenser, Ship Building, Shoring, automotive industry and many more.
